Can You Really Build Your Own Small Boat?

You would love to have a small boat of your own, but even a small boat can be expensive.   Have you considered making your own?  If you are willing to do the work yourself, you can not only save money, but rest assure knowing exactly how the boat was made.  Many people are concerned that building a boat is much too hard to master or that it will take up too much time.  If you start small, however, you may find those fears allayed.
If you want to achieve your most desired results, you must realize that one of the most important decisions you will make will be the consideration of materials.  If you want to end up with a high-quality boat, you have to start with the same fine materials you would use in the construction of a full-sized boat.

For best results, find a guide that will walk you through each necessary step to build a small boat when you are ready to plan.  A great place to find boat guides is—where else?—the Internet.  From free plans to downloadable libraries, you’re almost sure to find the right boat plan for you.  You must also realize that a project such as this will take up a large amount of time. Don’t think that you’ll be able to finish it in one week unless it is a model boat!  Determining if you will have enough free time to work on your boat before you begin is essential.

Choosing which construction method to use is also crucial.  If you are a novice, plywood boat-building methods such as stitch-and-glue may be best to start with.  If you are looking for more of a challenge, a conventional wooden plank model may be just the thing.  From there, you will need to choose which type of craft to apply the construction method to and the waters the boat will be used on.

For example, a Jon boat makes a good fishing vessel.  If you would like a boat less than 10 feet in size that you will use in calm waters near the shoreline, a dinghy may be just the right boat for you.  As a bonus, once you have mastered building small boats, you will be able to use your knowledge to larger boats.  In time, your small boat may grow into a large hobby to enjoy for years to come.

How To Find Simple Woodworking Plans For Beginners

It doesn't really matter if you've practiced woodworking for many years or if you're still a rookie, you can always have use for some easy woodworking plans. It will be much easier for you to finish your projects if you follow simple woodworking plans and I probably don't have to mention that it's important to check the accuracy of the plan before you start working.

It's all up to you where you would like to pick your woodworking plans. You can find hundreds of them on the net but not all of them are accurate. It's more likely that you will find a good plan for your new project if you consult a book about the woodworking craft. A subscription for a woodworking magazine might help you a lot as well. Internet is a great source for many things and it's a great place when you would like to read articles and learn much about a certain topic, such as woodworking, but it's not the perfect place when you want to find easy woodworking plans.

It's important that you're aware of the fact that it will be possible for you to build some really nice pieces of furniture even if you're following easy woodworking plans. You can do a rocking arm chair or a nice bureau if you want to and it doesn't have to be as complicated as it might seem. You have to know that it's not easy to become a talented and skillful craftsman though and you will need to practice a lot if you want your furniture to look good.

Woodworking doesn't have to be your profession, you can have it as a hobby as well. If you practice much you will be able to build almost all the furniture that is needed in a home and that can help you and your family to save a lot of money since you won't have to buy all the expensive pieces of furniture in a store.

When you've finished several projects you might want to try more difficult plans and that's ok but you should always keep in mind that easy woodworking plans can be used even if you want a perfect result. It's your work that matters. You can also come up with your own plans when you're skillful enough to figure out how to do it. That makes the craft of woodworking a lot more fun for sure.

7 Materials to Heal a Wound Naturally

Cuts and scrapes happen on a regular basis. While most will not require a doctor’s attention, it's always a good idea to apply something to the wound so cuts or scrapes don’t get infected. Most modern wound salves use antibiotics, which in reality are just cultures of one sort or another and are never good for the body overall. It is better to not only use a more natural material that the body can absorb readily, but also one that will simply kill all infectious material and keep the body truly protected with zero side effects. If the cut is bleeding, use a clean cloth, and apply pressure until the bleeding stops. Be sure to take in green leafy veggies as part of your diet and have either yarrow root powder or yunnan baiyou on hand to ingest for troublesome bleeding. If the bleeding is too severe, be sure to mend the wound fully and allow a healing period before attempting to disinfect the wound. In most cases, you will deal with the initial wound itself until it is under control, then a cleaning and protective material or salve is applied.

Here are a few alternative remedies to antibiotic creams you may want to try-

1. Garlic has been used for hundreds and in fact even thousands of years when treating cuts. It contains antimicrobial agents that can protect you from infections. To use, mix three cloves with a cup of wine. Place into blender and blend thoroughly. Pour into a container and let sit for 3 hours. Strain via nylon mesh, cheese cloth or similar. Apply the liquid to your wound. Do this twice a day.

2. Onions have the same antimicrobial element as garlic, called allicin. Take one half onion and blend. Mix with a bit of raw honey for best results. Apply it on the wound and leave on for about 20 minutes, then rinse off. Apply the mixture 2 to 3 times daily.

3. Lavender essential oil. Apply lavender essential oil directly to the cut. The oil usually doesn’t create additional pain and may help alleviate the pain of the wound. Lavender speeds healing and kills germs.

4. Raw honey on the cut seals the wound from infection while fighting any infection that exists in the wound. On top of this the enzymes and nutrients in the honey feed the skin and aid in mending the wound. Raw honey has also been used for thousands of years to prevent and heal infections.

5. White vinegar mixed with water will also disinfect wounds extremely well. It can also be used to soak a wound for scab removal if this has become a problem. The solution will kill all bacteria present. Vinegar may sting if the solution is not diluted enough.

6. Aloe vera gel, particularly raw or straight from the plant, can be used with almost all types of skin problems, including disinfecting and healing cuts. If you have an aloe vera plant, break off a leaf, and apply its juice on the affected part. Repeat every few hours. The same can be done with aloe vera juice, but will not provide as lasting of an effect. Either way, aloe vera will improve circulation massively as well, speeding the healing process.

7. Vegetable or food oils can also be used and have been used to seal and protect as well as heal and disinfect wounds for thousands of years. Extra virgin olive oil is quite powerful in disinfecting a wound, as are most vegetable oils, hemp seed oil and extra virgin coconut oil - also a most powerful anti-fungal agent, and extremely useful quality in wound protection. Simply pour a bit of oil onto your finger and apply to the wound directly. Just enough to cover or saturate the wound is enough.

Honey Shown to Serve as an All Natural Antibiotic, Heals Wounds.

A recent study published in the journal Microbiology found that honey – particularly that derived from bees for aging on manuka flowers – halted one type of streptococcus pyogenes from inhibiting the healing of wounds. Researchers conducting the lab tests found that just a little bit of honey was enough to kill off the majority of bacterial cells on the skin which infects the wound site. Honey also dramatically reduced stubborn biofilms created by strep. Not only does honey help to heal wounds, but it also can be utilized to prevent wounds in the first place.
